Assam is a beautiful and diverse state of india with an incredible range of cultures and landscapes located in the northeast part of India. It shares it's borders in the North and East with the Kingdom of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. Along the south lies Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. Meghalaya lies to her South-West, Bengal and Bangladesh to her West.

Assam was known as Pragjyotisha in the Mahabharata; and Kamarupa in the 1st millennium which ruled Assam for almost 800 years.

Geomorphic studies conclude that the Brahmaputra, the life-line of Assam is an antecedent river, older than the Himalayas. The river with steep gorges and rapids in Arunachal Pradesh entering Assam, becomes a braided river.

Assam - the land where you find flowers that are exquisitely beautiful, animals that are rare, and a beleagured people that are proud and inviting.
